Dry Cupping
A releasing treatment to restore flow and relieve tension

Dry Cupping is one of the most effective ways to boost the body’s natural energy (Qi) and improve the circulation of blood, plasma, and lymph. The suction created by the cups gently lifts the skin, muscles, and connective tissues, helping to release tightness, stagnation, and deep-seated muscular tension.
Cupping helps to relieve inflammation and congestion by increasing the flow of vital fluids throughout the body. It invigorates the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic systems, and provides a natural way to calm the nervous system.
When cups are placed along the spine, the home of the central nervous system, many people feel an immediate easing of stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue. By stimulating blood flow and releasing built-up pressure, cupping supports both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Scientific studies have shown that cupping can help to:
-
Dilate (open) blood capillaries and lower blood pressure
-
Activate the immune and lymphatic systems
-
Reduce inflammation and pain
-
Support detoxification and recovery
This treatment begins with a relaxing massage to warm and prepare the body. The cups are then applied and left in place for up to 15 minutes — long enough to encourage release, but not to the point of strain or fatigue. Finally, the session closes with soothing massage to encourage fresh movement and integration.
Dry Cupping can be performed as a general treatment across the back, or used to target specific areas such as the shoulders, legs, or hips.
It can be particularly beneficial in treating conditions such as sciatica, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis.
🪷Will I get 'bruises'?
Not everyone will have marks after cupping. The circular marks that appear are not bruises — they’re a temporary indication of stagnation or toxin build-up (such as lactic acid) being drawn to the surface.
Darker marks usually mean more stagnation in that area, while lighter marks fade more quickly. Most marks disappear within a few hours to a few days.
After your treatment, it’s recommended to stay hydrated, eat lightly, and include gentle movement to help your body flush out released toxins and maintain your flow of energy.Â

🌱A brief history
Cupping therapy is one of the world’s oldest healing practices, with roots tracing back over 3,000 years. It was used in ancient Egypt, China, and the Middle East, and references can even be found in early Greek medicine.
Traditionally, healers used cups made of bamboo, glass, or clay to draw stagnation from the body and restore the free flow of energy and blood. Today, Dry Cupping continues this ancient wisdom in a gentle, modern form — offering a safe, restorative way to release tension and promote balance throughout the body.
Please note: Daily Holistics offers Dry Cupping only — this is not Wet Cupping (which involves the letting of blood).
